Plastics processing involves a considerable use of resources. For this reason alone, the most careful use of production resources and energy has always been a POLYTEC corporate principle. But even beyond this, sustainable action throughout the entire company is an important concern for us at POLYTEC, in order to keep the world worth living in for future generations.
SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE AT POLYTEC
In addition to the social level of sustainability (e.g. with initiatives for employee development), we at POLYTEC have been pursuing three strategic priorities at both the economic and ecological level for several years:
And we can already point to measurable successes in terms of sustainability. For example, all our sites in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands obtain electricity exclusively from renewable energy sources. In addition, we are pushing investments in energy efficiency and building recycling and photovoltaic plants. In 2021, we also defined "sustainability in the product portfolio" as one of three central focal points in our engineering strategy.
In the 2021 business year, for example, we were able to save more than 20,000 tonnes of CO2 compared to the previous year, of which around 14,000 tonnes were saved through the use of green electricity. This corresponds to 45 per cent of all greenhouse gas emissions of POLYTEC.
