Sustainable cooperation bears digital fruit

In order to take the strategic value of sustainability into account, the areas of investor relations, human resources and sustainability will be more closely linked and digitally oriented in communications at POLYTEC in the future. For this project, we brought on board committed students from the master's programme "Digital Business Communications" at the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten (AT), who dedicated themselves to POLYTEC's sustainability communication within a practical project.

POLYTEC MEETS UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES

At the end of January 2023, the students presented the results for crucial communication issues of POLYTEC Holding AG at the POLYTEC location in Hörsching (AT). The board members Markus Huemer (CEO) and Heiko Gabbert (COO) did not miss this either.

As a plastics processing company, POLYTEC's use of other resources in addition to energy consumption has a significant impact on the environment. Thus, concepts such as recyclability, energy efficiency and circular economy apply to a particular degree at POLYTEC and the careful use of resources has already been practised for many years. In 2022, the company's sustainability strategy was also sharpened in this context. An ideal situation to address the future topics of corporate, financial and sustainability communication in one project.

STRENGTHEN SUSTAINABILITY THEMES

in communication

The students at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences developed concept proposals for a range of communication topics. The goal was to bring sustainability issues more to the forefront in communication, to be even more digitally oriented and to design a holistic external image. Verena Pölzl (project manager & consultant at nexxar) was on hand to coach the students. The final product of the project is impressive. The team created new approaches for an ESG sub-website, the social-media communication of IR and ESG content, the "POLYTEC World Blog" and the company's internal handling of social media - to the full satisfaction of the client.

UNIQUE INSIGHTS

into the communications practice

"We are very pleased about the interest of our cooperation partners. Our students gain unique insights into the communications practice of globally active companies and can experience first-hand which topics are currently occupying and challenging companies. The fact that our students repeatedly convince our clients with their digital communication know-how, ideas and concepts is a nice confirmation of our Master's degree. The current projects on sustainability and IR communication also clearly show that we are tackling the right topics, the topics of our time, and are preparing the next generation of communication experts well for their jobs," says Monika Kovarova-Simecek, head of the programme and initiator of the project.

"We invested a lot of time and energy in revising our sustainability strategy last year. The ideas and the view from the outside on the part of the students of St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences are extremely welcome to us. We very much appreciate the fruits of this collaboration, which we will now implement in an authentic digital communication line!"
