A BOX FULL OF FUTURE

POLYTEC and BOOXit celebrate the launch of their pioneering reusable logistics solution

On 8 September 2026, the POLYTEC GROUP and BOOXit OG celebrated the launch of industrial production of market-ready BOOXit boxes with around 80 guests from the worlds of politics, research, industry and the Austrian Armed Forces. Under the motto “A BOX FULL OF FUTURE”, the event at the POLYTEC site in Ebensee showcased not just a single product, but a new generation of intelligent logistics solutions for military use and numerous industrial applications.

Successful partnership

The journey from the idea of a smart, reusable logistics box to a solution ready for series production was made possible through close collaboration between various partners. BOOXit developed the vision and the product, whilst POLYTEC transferred the solution to industrial manufacturing and laid the foundations for scalable series production. The link between product development and successful implementation is a highly complex tool manufactured by HAIDLMAIR. Universities, research institutions and technology partners contributed scientific expertise. Practical knowledge from industry and the Austrian Armed Forces helped to tailor the solution specifically to its future use.

Smart logistics reimagined

The result of this collaboration is the BOOXit box. It is far more than just transport packaging. As a digital reusable solution, it combines sustainability, efficiency and transparency. Thanks to integrated sensors, IoT capability and digital connectivity, the flow of goods can be tracked in real time and relevant data recorded. Originally developed for industrial logistics processes, the smart box now opens up numerous further applications. Recent years have shown just how important resilient supply chains and security of supply are. Consequently, there is now considerable interest from the defence sector too. The Austrian Armed Forces recognised the potential at an early stage and supported the development with practical input.

The future at your fingertips: the BOOXit reusable box combines the circular economy, innovation and practicality.

Expertise, enjoyment and live production

In keeping with the POLYTEC GROUP’s manufacturing expertise, the event took place directly on the production floor. Following welcoming remarks from POLYTEC CEO Markus Huemer and Upper Austria’s Regional Minister for Economic Affairs Markus Achleitner, the focus turned to the future of sustainable and resilient logistics.

The technical programme began with the keynote speeches ‘Reusable as a Way Out’ by FH-Prof. DI Dr Walter Mayrhofer (FHWien der WKW, Vienna University of Applied Sciences) and a presentation by Brigadier Rudolf Zauner (Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence) on the requirements of future military logistics.

In the subsequent panel discussion, DI Andreas Holzleitner, CTO of BOOXit, Dr Jens Oldenburg, Managing Director of the Stiftung Initiative Mehrweg (SIM), Brigadier Klaus Jäger, Head of the Austrian Army Logistics School, and Colonel Alfred Steingress, Commander of the 13th Armoured Grenadier Battalion, discussed the environmental, economic and technological potential of smart reusable logistics solutions.

Accompanied by regional culinary creations and atmospheric live music, an inspiring setting was created for exchange and networking. The highlight was the live production of the first BOOXit boxes, during which visitors were able to experience first-hand how an innovative idea is transformed into a product ready for series production. This impressively demonstrated how POLYTEC transforms visions into concrete solutions.

Strong partnerships for strong solutions: The event highlighted the power of a close-knit network comprising politics, research, industry and the Austrian Armed Forces.
