The Tec-Day premiere

The interface between development and sales

The beginning of May saw a premiere in Lohne with the holding of the first internal Tec-Day, which facilitated lively exchanges between important areas of the group and simultaneously provided an overview of its very latest activities.

Development meets sale

The first internal Tec-Day in POLYTEC GROUP history offered a concurrent opportunity for the presentation of new activities and a reciprocal dialogue regarding development and sales.  This interface is of special significance with regard to the laying of solid foundations for new strategic measures. Therefore, numerous managers and decision-makers from the affected circle of sales and development business areas attended the event. This was opened with an address by COO Heiko Gabbert on the topic of “Transition in the automotive industry”, which focused on the opportunities offered to the industry in general and POLYTEC in particular by e-mobility, autonomous driving and mobility as a service.  Moreover, it goes without saying that the transformation in market demands will result in significant changes at production companies.

Applications for tomorrow

A specialist exhibition was also part of the event and following the opening, its differing thematic areas were described in detail in the course of short presentations. These ranged from innovative design and technology in the field of vehicle doors and flaps, to new surface finishing applications and non-automotive topics. Among the latter were so-called printed electronics, which consist of surface-integrated, electronic components that pave the way for completely new operating concepts.

To be continued

The successful first Tec-Day ended with a detailed description of VPS-based innovation and discussion regarding its integration into the POLYTEC product development process (PEP).  In future, Tec-Days will take place on a regular basis in order to further encourage the lively and fruitful dialogue between the development and sales business areas.
