Exceptional achievements are recognised with awards and this also applies in the case of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, which presents a special prize to a person, who through his or her efforts has made an outstanding contribution to Austrian foreign trade. 

 

Indispensible international commitment

This year saw the 25^th presentation of Export Prizes by the Foreign Trade Section of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. These honours are bestowed upon Austrian companies, who owing to their international commitment are indispensible for the nation’s economy. The 2019 awards night took place on 24 June in the Vienna Museum Quarter and Elisabeth Udolf-Strobl, the Federal Minister for Digital and Economic Affairs and Harald Mahrer, the president of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, handed out the prizes. Alfons Haider compered the ceremony.

 

Award for special service

The Export Prizes are awarded to companies from six different economic categories. However, the Expat Award is different, as it represents a special honour for a person, who through their activities has rendered exceptional service to Austrian foreign trade. This year, under the chairmanship of Harald Mahrer, the expert jury composed of leading figures from the worlds of business, politics and the media, selected Sieglinde Kaiser as the winner in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the USA.  Ms Kaiser has worked for POLYTEC for the past 22 years, initially as a key account manager and now as the USA business president, and her success, not just for POYLTEC, but Austria’s export trade as a whole, can be attributed to her unsurpassed commitment, courage, passion and drive.
